Let me introduce myself
My name is Leah and I am a Clinical Psychologist. I enjoy making authentic and warm connections with my clients and working together to move towards a more meaningful life in whatever way that may be. I have previously worked across a variety of settings including telephone counselling, public mental health - particularly with mental health support for young people & their families - as well as within non-government organisations.
I work primarily with adolescents and young adults who are experiencing a range of mental health concerns including:
Anxiety
Depression and low mood
Life Transitions and Adjustment Issues
Perfectionism
Low Self-Esteem
Stress
Grief and Loss
Trauma
You may wish to see a psychologist to help make sense of specific patterns or interactions in your life; this could be understanding your relationships with others better or clarifying why you may respond a certain way in some situations.
Please note that I do not provide services for court reports and assessments, developmental assessments, NDIS assessments, cognitive assessments, or Work Cover/work assessments
What to expect
It is important that as a psychologist I tailor my approach to suit you and assist in meeting your goals for coming to therapy. In the beginning I’ll spend some time getting to know you, your goals for coming to see me and making sense of what may be driving the difficulties you’re facing, it’s okay if some of these things are unclear, we can make sense of it together. In therapy I utilise a person-centred approach and am experienced in delivering a range of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other approaches.
Finding the right fit is important and when you do make contact with me, we can explore your reasons for seeking support and whether working together may be a good fit. Following this an initial appointment will be scheduled.
Other Nitty-Gritty Details
Presently, I offer appointments most Saturday mornings at Kangaroo Point or via Telehealth.
Sessions are 50mins in length and individual session cost is $250.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation fees apply for cancelled sessions with less than 24 hours notice (50% of the full session fee) and the full fee applies for missed appointments without any notice.
Sessions can be subsidised under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) which you can access via your GP prior to attending your first appointment, this provides you with up to 20 subsidised sessions per calendar year, meaning you’ll receive a rebate from the total cost of our appointment.
However a referral is not required and you can access a psychologist by paying the total cost. Please note some private health insurers will provide a rebate for sessions with a psychologist and I would recommend clarifying this with your insurer prior to the first appointment.
If you have further questions or wish to discuss how I work further you can contact me via this website or by 0473 880 467 or leah@aspinallpsychology.com.au - please note these are not continually monitored and should not be used for crisis support or acute situations.
